About Audarma

Who we are

Audarma Publishing House is a Kazakh–American publishing initiative dedicated to bringing the voices of Kazakhstan to the world — in the language of global readership, English. A natural extension of the Kazakh PEN Club’s long-standing work, Audarma joins translators, editors, and designers to produce books that stay faithful to the depth of the original while speaking clearly to English-language audiences.

Why these voices matter

Kazakhstan is a land of vast steppe and deep-rooted stories, where poetry once traveled from mouth to mouth under open skies. Yet for far too long its literature stayed hidden — obscured by language and limited exposure abroad. Audarma was created to reclaim that narrative: to tell Kazakhstan’s stories in its own words, without caricature or cliché — not slogans, but real people and real emotion. We believe literature can break stereotypes and build bridges between cultures.

What we do
